"Glass"

Linkin Park - Faint, Lyrics here: http://www.lyrics007.com/Linkin%20Park%20Lyrics/Faint%20Lyrics.html

"Glass"

Who are you to spit at my fire?
You think I am not important,
Because I only whisper...

Oh please tell me, oh great one,
Tell me ---
What did I forget?
See me,
Teach me, preach me,
Sell me,
Pocket me.

Raise your glass,
Keep on your mask...
Command attention,
With a note worthy of mention,
Spit it, as you wreak.
Breathing it in,
You smell reek.

I have my mirror.
I think I'll be okay.
Save your spray,
I have no whores to pay.

I know your name,
And how you are,
How you be...
Bitch, don't lie to me.
Do not bathe, in what you did not pour,
Do not bathe, with dwindling candles in hand.

I have my glasses...
I think I'll be okay.
Save your rays,
I have no shame.

Oh please tell me, oh great one,
Tell me ---
What did I forget?
See me,
Teach me, preach me,
Sell me,
Pocket me.

I have my scope...
I think I'll be okay.
Save your antics,
I have no choir to pay.

Self-important teachers, teach...
About voids in space,
And how they pace.
Growing louder by dimension...
They suck off, the tiniest of stars.
Lying in space,
Headed, to break the day.

Who are you spit in my flame?
You trying to blow me out, too?
Because I flicker...

When I just want to see you on your knees,
Head in your hands...
Crying your eyes out,
Begging for forgiveness.
Why would I want to hear, "I'm sorry."...

I have my glass...
I think I'll be okay.
Save your tears,
I make no waves.

Only my harsh whispers,
Haunt you,
As ghosts.
...and to that ---
I raise my glass.
And say,
A prayer.

    1. Looking back at this after what is nearly 7 years now, and making a correction to the last word, which was "pray" and is now "prayer", I am listening to your suggestion for the song to the piece . . . and . . . you are absolutely right, it is fitting and hell, it may be even a better fit for the feel behind what I meant at the time. I hope you still find yourself thinking about this randomly throughout the day, much love and a hug, and here is to the after party at the back of Craig's.
